Learning Target – I can examine energy and energy sources to understand how they work.

Today, we took a break from the periodic table and used the NEED project energy of science kit to get some hands on experiences.  Tomorrow, we’ll be finishing up our stations.  Trying to get some energy in before testing next week.

Homework was to create your own element for the periodic table.  I’ll be putting up a copy of the sheet on the website when I get home.  It’s not on this computer.  Oops!

Ok so I don’t understand how you find what group your element is in but i put my atomic number 120 and my atomic mass 296 also i dont understand how to get the properties of the element

If your atomic number is 120, you should know to start create a new row with 119 in group 1 which would put yours in group 2, the alkaline earth metals. Look at the properties listed for those. If you want more details, use ptable.com to get some help.

Ok i’m confused, in my notes i hace group 8 listed noble gases but on the internet it says group 18 is the noble gases.

We talked about that in class. Remember? We don’t count the transition metals in the middle. We skip those for our purposes. You can call it 8 or 18. Probably for this purpose, you’ll say 18.
