About Me
I have only just one minute With just 60 seconds in it Forced upon me, Can’t refuse it Didn’t seek it, Didn’t choose it But it’s up to me to use it I will suffer if I lose it Give an account if I abuse it Just a tiny little minute But eternity is in it Anonymous
I’ve been teaching for 11 years as of Spring 2009. I was a stay at home mom for a while and worked part time while I got my master’s degree. I spent 8 years teaching in Trigg County, 5 of those years at the high school and 3 at the middle school. Though I’ve taught several different subjects, Science is by far my favorite, so I was delighted when I got the chance to teach all science at North Marshall two years ago. It’s a great place to be. The administration, faculty, staff, and students are the best you could ask for. And the building is incredible!
I love technology and try to make use of it as much as I can. You’ll find in class, there aren’t very many days when we’re not using something. Other than cooking and gardening, my other favorite pasttime is scrapbooking, which I haven’t had much time for lately, but hope to rectify. I’m way behind!
We live just outside of Murray and have what my husband calls a “micro” farm. On this tiny acre, there are chestnut trees, pecan trees, hazelnut trees, a black walnut tree, plum trees, nectarine trees, apple trees, wild cherry, peach, pear, strawberries, blackberries , figs, pawpaws, blueberries, grapes, and a garden. We’ve been very busy during the summer, but we truly enjoy it. We also have over one hundred different varieties of daylilies and a wide variety of plants that were either here or we’ve added. We may have to move the house to make room for all of this stuff!
We tend to be just a little animal crazy, so there are actually more critters than people at our house. At present, there are two cats, four dogs, a rabbit, a cockatiel, two parakeets, a 75 gallon aquarium, goldfish in a small pond, and 9 chickens. All of the dogs and cats were rescued or came from a shelter. The rabbit needed a new home and we gladly took her in while the cockatiel was Mr. Collier’s. I traded him for a fish tank and goldfish. I think he got the quieter end of the deal!
I have three boys and a stepdaughter, all of whom I adore. My boys are 25, 21, and almost 4. Yes, you read it right. Donovan was a second marriage surprise, but he is truly the light of our lives. My stepdaughter is 12.
Zak, 25, has a music degree and is attending the University of Indiana in Bloomington for graduate school to get his masters in trumpet performance. His goal is to complete his doctorate and teach at the college level. Elijah, 21, has taken some time off from college and is working for a while. He’ll go back before long to get a teaching degree. He wants to teach Science or Math. Elaina, 12, is in 7th grade at Calloway County Middle School.
Oh, and then there’s Donovan. He’ll be 4 in December. We’ve been lucky that my husband, who is an internet developer, works from home and has been able to keep Donovan. Donovan loves trains, cars, anything with wheels. His favorite characters are Lightning McQueen and Thomas the Tank Engine, though his latest love has been the Rescue Heroes. He’s recently learned how to play games on the computer and LOVES Nick, Jr. My parents are retired now and take Donovan often, which he loves. When they show up, he’s out the door before they can say, “Hi!”
My husband, Scott, is an internet developer and works from home. I’m proud to say that while he’s been there for support, I’ve managed to do most of this site myself.
I hope this site is useful to you during the year. I plan to use it in my teaching, which makes certain I keep it up to date. You can subscribe for updates so that you’ll know what’s going on, which should help you keep on top or maybe just a bit ahead.
